In the Summer of 2016, a rag-tag group of high-school kids from rural northeast Iowa got together and formed an FRC robotics team. We named our team, made a logo, built a respectable robot, and showed up at our one-and-only regional competition. Subsequently, we rode that little pile of metal to some of the most memorable moments of our lives at the World Championships in St. Louis, Missouri. Since then, we’ve won the Entrepreneurship award at both of our 2018 regionals, started an FLL Jr. team, co-founded the Northeast Iowa FRC Coalition, traveled to Washington D.C. to participate in the National Advocacy Conference (NAC), and hosted dozens of fundraising and outreach events. But more importantly, we’ve learned a lot about ourselves, each other, and what it feels like to be part of an amazingly supportive, encouraging, collaborative and FUN group of humans. Our team is about way more than building a FUN robot; our team is truly about being a FUN family. It's more than just a robot.
